Hudson, Assistant VP for Patient Care Services

Jeffery Hudson, R.N., BSN, CEN was recently appointed Assistant Vice-President for Patient Care Services at MacNeal Hospital. Hudson has been serving as Chief Nursing Officer, actively working with the VP of Patient Care Services through a Vanguard Health Systems fellowship program since 2004. Prior to that, he served as Director of Emergency Trauma and GI services at MacNeal since 2001.

Hudson’s career includes experience in emergency and outpatient nursing management in the south and southwest since 1995. He holds an ADN from No Virginia Community College, VA; completed a Critical Care Residency Program from the University of Phoenix, CA; earned a BSN from North Park University, and is currently enrolled in a Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration there. He is certified as an Emergency Nurse, Trauma Nurse Specialist, and Emergency Communication Radio Nurse and is an active member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives.

Provena Saint Joseph Hospital Announces Nursing Leadership Positions

William A. Brown, CHE, President and CEO of Provena Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin is pleased to announce that Pamela Urbanski, BSN, MSN has accepted the position of Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nurse Executive at Provena Saint Joseph Hospital. Pam joins Provena Saint Joseph Hospital from Rush Oak Park Hospital where she served as Vice President of Patient Care Services since 2004. Prior to that, Pam held the position of Director of Nursing at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital from 1994 to 2004 and Administrative Manager at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center from 1981 to 1994. Pam is a dynamic and innovative professional with more than 20 years of progressively responsible management experience in all aspects of nursing and nursing administration, including acute care, ambulatory care and funded clinical research. Her background includes demonstrated success in new program development, effective resource utilization, staff development and quality improvement methods.

Pam earned a BSN from Marycrest College in Davenport Iowa, and holds an MSN in Adult Med/Surg Nursing from Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas.

Provena Saint Joseph Hospital is also pleased to announce the promotion of Donna Ackerman, R.N. to the position of Assistant Vice President of Nursing at Provena Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin. In addition to her current responsibilities directing Perioperative services, Donna will now provide leadership for Cardiac Cath/EP Labs, Cardiac Diagnostics, Cardiac Rehab, Respiratory Therapy and oversee the administrative coordinators.

Donna joined Provena Saint Joseph Hospital in August of 2003. Prior to that, Donna worked in positions of increasing responsibility at University of Chicago Hospitals from 1980-2003. Donna holds a BSN and MSN from Lewis University and is certified by the Association of Operating Room Nurses.

Amerinet Receives Champion for Change Award

Amerinet recently announced that it has received the 2006 Hospitals for a Healthy Environment (H2E) Champion for Change award for its leadership in improving the environmental performance of the health care sector. The award recognizes Amerinet’s role in providing assistance to hospitals so they can improve their environmental performance.

Stated Todd Ebert, President, Amerinet, "Amerinet is honored to be a recipient of this award by H2E for our contributions to health care providers. We have worked diligently over the past year to increase our contracts with environmental specifications and also to enhance the ability of Amerinet members to access environmental data on products by introducing an online database capability". He continued, "We will continue to prioritize efforts such as these to increase environmental awareness and to support initiatives to improve these issues".
