Alden Announces Deficiency–Free Survey Results
Alden North Shore, Skokie IL, has received a deficiency-free survey from the Illinois Department of Health, the state regulatory body that oversees the safety and quality of health services provided to residents and patients at skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers. "A deficiency-free survey is unusual because regulators are diligent and will not overlook even the smallest infraction. Because it’s so hard to achieve, owners and operators tend to regard deficiency-free surveys as a special badge of honor," stated Robert Molitor, Alden’s Chief Operating Officer. According to Molitor, surveys are not announced in advance. "Once they arrive on the scene, surveyors carefully check out the facility. They interview residents, patients and the professional staff, and scrutinize every program detail. To come through the inspection process deficiency free speaks volumes about the commitment of Alden North Shore’s team and our administrator, Jennifer Schullo." he said. "I am also proud to announce we had no nursing deficiencies at our Alden Valley Ridge Rehabilitation and Health Center located in Bloomingdale, IL and at Alden Alma Nelson, a subacute rehabilitation and health center in Rockford, IL. Because this status is so hard to achieve, I want to personally thank our administrators Don Dalicandro, Greg Taylor and our staff with a special celebrations." These survey results are a sign that our hard work has paid off. It’s the reason we are here. To give extraordinary care to our residents and patients." But, we won’t stop now. There is always room for continuous improvement." Kindred Hospitals of Chicago continue to set the pace in the Long Term Acute Care Hospital sector. Serving patients referred from Chicagoland hospitals since 1991, our four facilities provide specialized services to more than 3000 patients each year. Our hospitals have received recognition within Kindred Healthcare in a variety of performance measures. In 2004, two of our facilities were recipients of achievement awards for customer service and financial performance from among the hospitals in the Midwest Region. More recently, our facilities received the Gold and Silver performance Awards in which all of our employees are recognized for achieving outstanding results in the areas of Patient Care, Risk Management, Customer Satisfaction, Operating Efficiency, and Employee Satisfaction. Our efforts to support charitable foundations that provide much needed education, awareness and research, is an ongoing commitment for not only Kindred Hospitals of Chicago but also for Kindred Healthcare. We are once again proud to join our corporate office in their National Asthma Walk Campaign. Last year, Kindred Hospitals of Chicago raised over $23,000 for the American Lung Association, and we trust this year’s Asthma Walk will be equally successful. Proteus Group Engaged to Complete $4 Million Renovation Project at Lincoln Park Hospital
Proteus Group has been enlisted to complete $4 million in renovations at Lincoln Park Hospital in Chicago. The renovations will include the expansion and improvement of the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Cardiac Care Unit, scheduled for completion in the spring of 2006. Proteus Group’s initial work will focus on remodeling the Lincoln Park Hospital’s third floor to house a new 16-bed, 11,300-square-foot ICU that will provide more private rooms/space for patients and their families, as well as improved workspace for medical staff. "With an ideal location in one of Chicago’s most popular residential neighborhoods, we see a real opportunity to attract and serve patients from the area," said Bridget Hayes, Chief Operating Officer at Lincoln Park Hospital. "The updated space will enable us to better care for a growing number of patients now and into the future." "The existing ICU, built in 1975, has exhausted its ability for additional flexibility and growth," said Kevin Matuszewski, Medical Planner, at Proteus Group. "We are working closely with hospital administrators to create a new layout that not only modernizes the ICU to meet today’s needs, but also creates a new interior design language to be used and replicated in other areas of the facility for years to come."
